Business and Economic Opportunities

The Stop Six Choice Neighborhood Initiative provides numerous work-related opportunities for local residents, businesses and contractors. Our efforts throughout the multi-year initiative are aimed at increasing public awareness and participation in programs that connect low-income individuals or small, minority-, and women-owned businesses with employment, contracting, training, or other economic opportunities.

Jobs & Contracting

Section 3 is a provision of the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Act of 1968 that helps foster local economic development, neighborhood economic improvement and individual self-sufficiency. HUD’s Section 3 Program requires recipients of the agency’s financial assistance, including Fort Worth Housing Solutions, to make a concerted effort to hire and contract with Section 3-eligible individuals and business concerns with a focus on qualifications, cost, and insurance/bonding requirements as priority considerations when selecting employees and contractors.

MBS also is managing the work of general contractor Block Companies of Baton Rouge, La., and Bennett Benner Partners, the Fort Worth-based architect of record.
